Rugby Results 3 Oct

A fantastic days rugby in the cool drizzle of YCK when the Kings played in the 3rd round of the Guinness pre season cup.

The guys ran out in their new Canterbury strip which proved to be  stylish, cool and hard to grab!

The second team played Police. The weather was good to us with a light drizzle keeping the temp down.  The team played good cohesive rugby utilizing the strong forward pack and back line in even measure. There were tries from most of the team seemingly but huge cudos to 16 year old Connie and new boy Nick for their impact on the game. Captain and Birthday boy Steve 'the peoples champ' Thirgood led the team off with a final score of 55:7 to the Kings.

After a 2 hour break watching the Singapore National womens team play Malaysia, the Third team faced off against favourites for the day SCC Tankards.   Despite the much greater weight, experience and age of the Tankards, the 3rds went out committed to acquitting themselves well. The game, often quite feisty, was hard fought from end to end with strong defense leading to attacking opportunities for the young Bedok team.  Unfortunately the guys failed to score in the first half and made a couple of errors that were capitalized on by the SCC team.

The second half continued in the same vein with Khai scoring the first try for Bedok. The team fought hard to the end and had a number of close calls on the SCC line but ended up tiring the second half. Both JV and I could not be more proud of the efforts of the whole team and see a huge amount of potential from the young team. The final score was 5:22. Which doesn't pay justice to the quality of the game. Fantastic performances all around
